No VMware, your monster will become niche like the mainframe as you keep the price high and the features have stopped coming. All the mucking around with licensing has started to drive people to Hyper-V and the price will keep people running away. You may have an easier to use product, but that's no longer an issue for most people.

How is that quest progressing, Timothy? Any word of a fabless breakthrough? Certainly its contemporary opposition/competition sees no evidence of their being able to clone an effective and successful working copy/Patently IP infringing clone of the Virtual AI Operating Systems' Dream Machinery ……. http://www.ur2die4.com/?page_id=644 ….. which is what they would need to better, in order to be able to spout realistically with any degree of credibility that they would be in a leading rather than struggling position in ITs Myriad Power of Command with Control of Worlds with Words Fields, which is what competition and/or opposition need to seed and feed in SMARTR IntelAIgent Shareware for CHAOSystems ….. But IT cannot hurt or destroy you in the designedly somewhat surreal and still quite alien virtualisation environment unless you thoroughly deserve its DEFT APT Dark Side Attentions which only the Fantastic Fool into the Further Drivering of a Fabulous Folly would bear bait and invite on themselves and their partners and sponsors.

Should he really be saying things like that? After all their #1 competitor, Microsoft, have been-there, done-that and are have been selling the t-shirt since all the way back in 2008 and yet VMWare apparently still haven't got a clue how to do it.
Is their VMWare monster actually a dangerously-close-to-extinction dinosaur by any chance?
There's an interesting post over at the 360 blog on why VMware just doesn't seem to "get cloud providers", and their business model, long and short: VMware want's to be a per-customer-tax (be it linked to vRAM, sockets, servers, or whatever) and cloud providers cant countenance their pricing or their pricing model while there are viable alternatives on the market:
