back to article Two new Jovian moons confirmed

Jupiter's tally of moons has gone up by two, after researchers published their observations of two previously unknown Jovian satellites. The romantically-named S/2010 J 1 and S/2010 J 2 are both tiny. The former is just three kilometres across. The latter is even smaller, boasting a diameter of just two kilometres. That small …

    "21.01 million kilometres"

Anybody know what this is in Linguini?

      Re: "21.01 million kilometres"

The linguini in my cupboard is 10" long, when cooked it is longer so all we need to do now is clear up how well you like it cooked.

Actually my home made can be up to 6' long damp as it comes out of the machine so that can be cut to 20cm which is a good size and about 40% less shirt spray than the dried stuff if eaten properly.

That eventually leads to 2.101billion* anti-pastis, or the same number of main courses in a posh restaurant where the course is indicated by the plate size not the portion size.

*That's 10**9 or girly** billions as opposed to 10**12 for british journals prior to lots of bad engineering.

**girly is a non sexist term referring to the diminutive - though this does not apply in the US or cafes.

Your linguini discussion could trigger a linguistic argument.

    I'm confused

These wree first spotted in 2003, and presumably, only now confirmed as moons in 2012, so why do they have 2010 designations?

It matches the Roman mythology, where the twin goddesses, S/2010 J 1 and S/2010 J 2, burst full-grown from Jupiter's nose hairs.

Come on Simon, if you're going to insist on using apostrophes for 'dot the i's and cross the t's' then at least be consistent about it...
