No. These are not Intel chips. This is not Windows. The advantage of a quad core is that it can idle with 3 cores completely turned off and just one, 1/4 of the power drain, running at idle. So it can be down to, say, 5-10% battery drain compared to a single core which would idle at, say, 20%.
Then it can turn on cores as required for the processing load. It may be that having all 4 switched on may be quite rare.
Another further saving is if the cores are asymmetric with one slow but very efficient that is the only one on during idle or sleep.
So the reason for having 4 cores is to _reduce_ battery drain.
