To your question concerning if OpenShift will run in top of OpenStack, Red Hat is going to be demonstrating the open source code that powers OpenShift running on top of OpenStack at the end of the month at the free Open Cloud Conference - http://www.opencloudconf.com/sessions.php . There will obviously be online versions of the talk posted as well.

Did they completely forget about the Ovirt effort that Redhat, Cisco, IBM, etc all have joined in the end of last year (Ovirt = RHEV-M in Java rather then its .Net origins).

How do they plan on maintaining both Ovirt and Openstack, they are completely different in everyway. I thought the point of Redhat /Cisco backing Ovirt was because of the issues with Openstack not being so open in its governance.

Re: Red Hat is already an OpenStack contributor....

Red Hat employees have been contributing to OpenStack because various RH people and groups find it worthwhile to do so. RH has a very liberal policy with regards to its employees contributing to projects (you can pretty much send whatever you want wherever you like). RH *as a company*, though, did not until now have an official relationship with OpenStack.
