back to article Orange 3G data network goes titsup

Some Orange customers are without data at the moment as a network fault of some sort has knocked out 3G across the country - and the cause isn't known. Orange admits that punters have lost data connectivity, but is struggling to work out how many customers and in what areas. Here at El Reg we've had reports from both ends of …

    WTF?

    So how...

"In the meantime don't be surprised if your Orange data connection fails: it's not your phone, or your coverage, the whole network is up the spout. ®"

So how are they going to read this article then?

Cant connect by T-Mobile or Orange (selecting network) the whole caboodle is down.

Maybe El Reg has not had many reports yet because the entire orange mobile world is cut off at the moment.

@OrangeHelpers will be at its twitter limit in a few more mins.... Why they don't have a network status page is a mystery.

        Agreed.

I've just googled everywhere for a blummin status page. They seriously need one. o2 has one and it' always worked fine and is peace of mind.

        Anyway.. Location here: Staffordshire

    More to the point..

How could you tell? Even when you have bars, you often don't have backhaul.

Personally I have great Orange signal strength almost everywhere locally.

But like you - I *very* rarely have *any* internet access, let alone 3g access.

Is it with a touch of irony that underneath this story I see a text advert for 750Mb of data browsing with Orange Business ?...shouldn't that be 0Mb ?

    Also affecting Spain

A colleague asked me if I was with Orange this morning as he'd lost data connectivity. Just asked and he's still without, so unless he's an isolated case it's affecting parts os Spain too.

I'm with Happy Mobile of Carphone Warehouse which I've been lead to believe uses the Orange infrastructure and still have a data connection.

    everbody everywhere

    In Glasgow here.

Forcing roaming onto T-mobile makes no difference - strong 3G signal on either Orange or T-mobile, no data being passed at all

It's working fine for me in Cambridge. My wife is reporting no data down in Exeter.

Re: Make that Aberdeen to Bristol...

I'm in Aberdeen and I seem to be getting a connection at the normal (painfully slow) rate I usually get. Maybe they've ballsed up their network management and are over throttling people at random?

Orange T-Mobile working first, straight Orange a few mins later.

Still a bit slow tho as you'd expect, there will be a whole fuck ton of emails being sent by phones right now.

    Orange status?

my colleagues (on orange anyway) and I have been wondering whats up, the complete lack of a service status page by Orange (most of the other mobile folk have such a page) and all their customer service personal being busy made finding out a waiting game until The Register posted something.

    Cheers :-)

Question is, while their PR team utilise the solar flares angle?

    B*STIDS!

I've flattened my phone back to factory twice today because of this!

If you call the Orange helldesk their BOFH tells you he 'isn't aware of any problems with the network'.
