Real or not
Idiots
Three former ministers in the Indian state of Karnataka have until Monday to explain themselves to the Speaker of the local assembly after they were allegedly caught watching porn on a mobile phone during a debate in the House. The trio, accused of ogling the grumble flick in the state assembly building in tech town Bangalore …
I am a little confused over the connection between ports, science and technology. The last two I see connected, even though I’d still rather have them separate, but ports? I am assuming this means the big things by the ocean where ships load and unload rather than difficult to reach holes in the back of a computer, or even funny numbered stuff I don’t understand fully in networking.
I know it’s off topic, just looks like a bizarre portfolio combination. Why not the Minister for Defence and The Arts? Or possibly Agriculture and Foreign Affairs?
What's the rationale behind that combination (genuine question, I am puzzled).
Hang them. If they say sorry just by the neck, otherwise a staple gun and their tonkas would be a better route.
They need to remember they are civil servants.
Seriously, what is it about politics that seems to attract the most duplicitous, morally repugnant puppy ****ers on the planet? They can't all be bad, so why don't the good ones make sure there are plenty of staple guns about rather than constantly letting them off with letters home to their mummy about how naughty they were?
You're right. Even the mere suggestion of impropriety on the part of a government minister should be grounds for capital punishment, (or at the very least, torture through genital trauma).
I just can't understand why more citizens aren't pounding their spittle-flecked keybards in rabid fury in support of your proposal.
I really shouldn't need to use the sarcasm tag here but just in case... [/Sarcasm]
Daily fail, oh you are so witty Mr Marsden!
Of course I was not serious about harming them, I am however unimpressed with the lack of moral fortitude evident in the average politician and the failings in the system meant to deal with them. It is very rare that a politician in any 'developed' country is genuinely punished. Senator Stevens in the USA and MP's Morley and Devine in the UK are rare exceptions.
A more interesting example might be Baroness Uddin, she claimed 120k GBP in expenses, refused to cooperate with the police, rushed to fill the unoccupied property in question with furniture when the problem was raised by the press, and whilst claiming expenses she was using a housing association property with subsidised rent meant for people of limited means whilst having a mansion built in Bangladesh.
As shameful as this is by itself, my biggest issue is with what followed. She was asked to repay the amount in question (note asked) and suspended by her party. She was not dismissed, no criminal proceedings as she was saved by a senior party member covering her by saying her main residence might be one she only visits once a year and there is nothing to stop her retaking her seat in the lords. If I misspent even 1/1000th of that on my expense account (on which I have to provide recipts and justification for every last cent) I would be sacked. If I had attempted to hide the expense or lie I would face criminal proceedings.
The point is that not only should they be held to at least the same standard as the rest of us, but they should face the same penalties. Not all politicians are corrupt, there are probably many wonderful dedicated civil servants out there, I am left to wonder why they are not doing more to clean house and protect their image.
Actually - if weren't being sarcastic I might have voted you up... people in government _should_ be held to a higher standard than the rest of us; they should represent what is best about their country/people... rather than the self-serving, slimy, scum-sucking bottom feeders that seem to weasel their way into office.
Mind, anyone who actually wants to be a politician is probably mentally unsuited to be one.
It's just another instance of conservative politicians doing what they forbid others to do, and to add insult to the injury they're doing it in their working time, paid with public money, and probably using public infrastructure, everything paid by their constituents-subjects.
Please understand me. If these guys were in a party that promoted an open approach to sex, I'd still think they should be sacked, as they aren't getting paid for watching smut in their work hours. But this kind of behaviour by conservative politicians is just incredible. I totally agree with Mr. Spaniel that a staple gun would come handy here. Oh, and also a flamethrower for their higher ups, who instead of cleaning their own house are just 'standing behind' the perps.
Mr Spaniel endorses your message!
Humor aside, the point is valid. If I were to be caught watching porn, let alone a video of someone being raped (which in many countries is illegal) whilst I was at work, on break or otherwise, I would be dismissed instantly. Politicians seem to get caught doing something stupid / illegal, they 'resign' but still keep their job as they just resigned one of their roles not their actual job, lie under the radar for a while then hop back up. It's called 'doing a mandy'. In the states they just seem to get told off and a letter gets sent home then it all gets forgotten about. They are elected (and remember we only get to vote for who they put forward) to serve.
They are richly rewarded for work that is insigificant (in terms of danger faced, training and skills required etc) to that of say a police officer, fireman, nurse, paramedic and yet they cannot behave. It's one thing that they seem to walk around with interns, secrataries, mistresses attached to their groin like its a towel rail, another entirely taking kickbacks, fiddling expenses, lieing ad nauseum.
I suggest Mako (I suspect a politician using an obviously fake name) watch some monty python clips to aquaint himself with British humor. I mean, seriously, I doubt a staple gun would even work but if any politician wishes to volunteer I could go to officemax.
"Savadi, the minister for co-operation, said the clip he was watching was not porn but footage of a real-life rape of a woman by four men as part of an investigation into the dangers of the rave scene."
Do people in senior office in India think they work? I recall after the Commonwealth Games in India, some guy was explaining why the accommodation wasn't ready until the games were almost due to start: it was because the accommodation was 'for servants'!
