back to article Samsung imagines see-through bendy tablet of the future

Yes, it'll be many a year before we're all running around the globe, unfolding our transparent OLED mobile internet devices - which will seemingly operate without batteries and circuitry - and gaining useful local knowledge through a mix of mobile broadband, augmented reality and 3D. But, hey, who's to say Samsung, which …

      They've developed

some eye candy that doesn't exist!

No usb port, No SD card reader, No swappable battery, No circuits, No antenna

      Have they developed anything? No

      It's easy...

... to imagine these things. But as the article points out, where are the parts that make it tick?

I have been reading books since I was a lad about these devices. Nothing new here.

    Soooooooo want!

    Patent this!

Just like a no-button smartphone has an essential feature in being able to unlock the screen with no buttons, a no-anything device has an essential feature in being able to find it when it's been turned off and put down somewhere. Get a broad patent for that and you will own the market.

Kudos to Apple for making me think different. A few years ago I'd be trying think of amazing devices, these days I think of patent trickery and how to stifle innovation.

    FAIL

    Bah - I've seen better

Bah, so what? a transparent, holographic display with no batteries. I've seen better - there's the guys with the matter transporter, the guys with the interstellar gate in a mountain, the folks making sexy androids...

What, all of those are faked? So was the Samsung video. Wake me when Samsung can demonstrate a REAL transparent, fold-able display.

    Nice SFX

I know the displays actually exist but it's pretty obvious this is not a real device in use and just some fancy SFX. Notice how brice and clear the images are in broad daylight. Plus where the fook is the battry? Up his sleeve?

    Joke

    Samsung are just sheep...

    ...and never innovate at all!

Samsung might consider spending less time dreaming and more time addressing the massive security holes in their implementation of Android. Their "ignore it and it will go away" approach is going to result in "ignore and they'll [their customers] will go away."

    No black surround? - check

    No rounded corners? - check

    No horizontal speakers? - check

    Apple will be livid!

    Hmmm

I hope no one complains about the lack of a usb port and no sim card slot, or the fact that you don't seem able to swap out the battery.

Nice advert for a thing that won't exist.

    Cool thinking though.

May be you could charge it by flexing, that would be good like a kinetic watch or something. But where is OS stored, how is info transmitted to screen?

    Meh

I have no doubt I will be arriving home from a 10 minute commute in my flying car to be offered a refreshing choice of drinks by my monkey butler before a product even remotely like this is actually developed.

I refuse to become just a pair of disembodied hands for the sake of Samsung, unless porn is involved.
