back to article AT&T hits back: 'T-Mobile USA merger will be great, actually'

AT&T have hit back at a staff analysis from the FCC slamming its proposed merger with T-Mobile USA, saying the regulator "cherry-picked" facts to support its views. The Federal Communications Commission published its report on the proposed union yesterday, despite AT&T's protests, and accused the firms of trying to mislead it …

At the very heart of competition...

    ...is the elimination of it?

It is always funny to watch the corporate PR machine go through very painful twists of logic to rationalize how eliminating competition is somehow beneficial to consumers.

    Put up or shut up.

OK, let the merger happen - if they DON'T add all the jobs they are talking about, and if their network quality continues to suck, and they continue to have lousy support, then make them spin T-Mobile off again.

Did they describe their own report by mistake?

"The document is so obviously one-sided that any fair-minded person reading it is left with the clear impression that it is an advocacy piece, and not a considered analysis," Jim Cicconi, senior VP of external and legislative affairs said in a written statement.

That certainly sounds like the AT&T report, maybe Jim got confused........

    WTF?

    Creating jobs via merger

It's interesting that they claim this merger will create jobs, rather than allow AT&T to leverage economies of scale and thus, er, reduce jobs in the same that has happened, er, EVERY MERGER EVER.

I mean, clearly they won't just merge the network ops and fire half the staff since they're now redundant. Or shut half the bricks&mortar stores. Or close down the T-Mobile website. Or integrate buying of handsets and hardware in order to get better deals and er, only employ one set of staff instead of two. Right? Right? Of course they won't. Uh...

"These Reality Distortion Fields are getting popular."

What people don't realize is that the original reality distortion field was created back in the 60's in bell labs. They wee messing around with a new way to deliver cable TV and they discovered how create ads that cause reality distortion over the TV. Think warehouse 13 . Over the years they have leased it out.

    att are lying gits

    They won't improve service.

    They will charge more.

They will get rid of all those people at t-mobile.

    They just want the towers.

The top bosses just need more money.

They keep outsourcing and offshoring jobs and headcount has dropped from about 330k to around 265k employees and those aren't retirements.

Funny, that's what I thought about ATT's merger proposal in the first place.
