There are a selection of software solutions available, both on iOS and Android for handling data encryption. FileGuardian (on the AppStore http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/fileguardian/id435470335?mt=8) offers an AES-256 / SHA-512 protected file storage solution for iOS that also makes use of the built-in hardware encryption support, where it is available, and was originally built with both personal and corporate use-case scenarios in mind.
My employer, who do a lot of public sector work, recently allowed us access to work email through Good if we owned an iOS or Android device. Per the intranet the company are contractually mandated to protect data with FIPS 140-2 encryption and the Good app provides this.
Still, it's only cleared for data up to and including IL2 (PROTECT). Nothing juicy just yet but sounds like that might change.
