back to article Vogel's RingO iPad mounting system

Desktop stands for iPads and other tablets there are a-plenty, but wall-mounting systems are rare. Vogel's, a Dutch specialist in such kit, is one of only two I've tried. Vogel's RingO tablet wall-mount kit Attach your tablet to the wall RingO, as it's called, is the pricier of the two, but not by so very much. The £80 …

    Ripoff design?

Hang on, I'm sure I've seen other devices using screws to fix things to walls!

    Accident Hazard

In an accident, that rather protruding bit of plastic /metal looks nicely placed to punch a nice hole in your forehead?

    I recommend using nails

Just hammer the little guys through the front of the display and into the surface behind.

    "itunes...crappy...software"

    total cost to mount...£280.

They must be joking, guess it's only aimed at the rich kids.

One of my odd little fantasies

Having wall-mounted docking stations for a tablet computer so I can drop it somewhere and use it to control or play back a upnp audio system. It just feels so star trek somehow.

    How easy is it...

...to remove the iPad from the holder?

    Is it clamped in secrurely?

Is it removed by distorting the holder or is there a more positive engagement?

    Interesting, but need more info.

Why stick it on the wall?

So you can keep your hands free to do something else.

Using your imagination, think about if you're in the kitchen and are following a recipe you found online. On the wall you don't lose counter top space.

Or if you want to use it to talk to someone over Skype or facetime....

If I find a recipe online....

I tend to print it out.

Paper has several advantages over a wall-mounted iPad.

I can move it around the kitchen.

I don't cry if it gets covered in my latest culinary disaster.

Why Hang it on the wall

It could be used to display the image of dartboard or Samantha Fox, then with some Magical iDarts you have a game that your friends can play after the pub on Friday nights. ( After 8 pints of the best)

Mines the one with "I'm getting the f*** outa here".

    So.....

Overpriced, pointless (***"Of course, the real question is whether you want to stick your tablet on the wall in the first place"***) and awkward to use (***"the system seems better geared to holding a gadget permanently"***), yet still worth 85% and a "recommended" badge?

      Re: So.....

What d'you think? Because if you *do* want to stick your tablet to the wall, it's a good system

        Hmmm....

I could probably come up with a good system for bolting my cat to a wall. He wouldn't like it much, and there wouldn't be much point in it, but, hell, if anyone did want to bolt their cat to a wall, it would be an excellent and extremely well engineered system.

    Meh

    Vogel's RingO iPad mounting system

At that kind of price I can think of another ring they can stick it up. Cheaper to buy a six inch (150mm) nail and hammer the iPad to the wall.

Reckon I can make that car mount with my old Henry "foot" nozzle thing (is there a proper term for the hoovering up bit?).

      Pedantry at its best....

Well, there's a floor tool, a brush tool and the long slim bit called the crevice tool.

      Take your pick

    holy crap!

is that really the price?! seriously!??! wtf!??!??!

    WTF?

    deathtrap?

humm putting a solidly mounted metal tube facing right into where you slam forward (from the back seats) in an accident would seem a bad idea. I guess it depends on how much you like the people you car pool with...

    How long...

    ...is a piece of string?

I hang a conventional folio case (about £20 or so) from a piece of string strung between front seat headrests.

Works a treat. Also, the string is white which any fule know is the most expensive iColour.
