Sir
"Google also promised to follow Safe Harbour rules when transferring data back to the United States"
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha....bonk.
Google's Street View cars will soon be back on the streets of the Czech Republic after the data protection registrar forced changes on the search and advertising giant. Google was forced to suspend the creepy fleet of picture-taking, Wi-Fi slurping vehicles because of objections from the Office for Personal Data Protection. …
Google trolls around the streets taking *lots* of photographs. It then processes them to (a) remove personally-identifying information, and (b) stitches them together and effectively geotags them.
Tourists troll around the streets, taking, in aggregate, *lots* of photographs. They then (a) take no trouble to remove any personally-identifying information and (b) upload them to Picassa, Flickr, Facebook and a hundred other sites, possibly with geotags.
Leaving aside the Wi-Fi slurp, why is it that Google gets the bad press and approbrium? Shouldn't we equally remove the rights of citizens to own and or operate photographic equipment?
