    Councils

    I for one, am amazed that Councils are even thinking about this - surely this is too advanced, too logical, too cost effective, and might actually work????

    These are the same councils who haven't repaired January's potholes yet on the main A-grade coast road in my county - instead they'd rather dig up the *exact same road* up to fix a drain that was left too raised after the last round of failed resurfacing. And to trim the trees.

    And they only did the trees because when the double decker buses go into the potholes on this narrow A road, the holes are so deep and continious they tip the top of the bus into the trees...

    Work?

    They don't really care about efficiency, only that they can make what appears to be a short-term saving thus ensuring a place next to the trough for a year or three.

    cloud ?

    If they're looking for a "complete managed service" of which IT is only a part then how is this not just another outsourcing contract ? Whether or not the IT component ends up floating on a chunk of cirrus somewhere over Nairobi seems to have been left to the bidders.
