A notorious Russian spammer faces a long prison sentence after he admitted to sexually abusing underage girls. Leonid "Leo" Kuvayev, 39, named by security firms as the distributor of spam messages promoting unlicensed pharmaceutical websites, has reportedly confessed to molesting youngsters as young as 13 in the seedy basement …
... I can' help feeling the child abuse charges may be faked to get a more solid conviction and not create a precedent that can be used against Russian men of business.
Child abuse + BDSM doesn't seem to fit somehow. Unless he was into both and just used one love nest for all his sex.
Thing is I knew the guy 10 years ago and this seems like a classic idiot Leo move. I quit after he started into the Spam game and met some other former employees who told me that before I worked there he liked to argue that child porn was harmless and a good way for otherwise poor children to make money.
It also sheds a whole new light on the time I walked into his office and found whois info for a child porn domain on his screen but at the time I assumed he had come across it and was reporting it to their ISP but now ...
It could be we're just not getting complete information at this stage, but I agree, it doesn't quite add up. One detail that in my mind would bring the pieces together is if he had been making child porn, which could be true, but if there was even a shred evidence for this, I would have expected the authorities to enthusiastically report it at the first opportunity.
@Sabine:
I'm not prejudging this particular case and I can see the arguments people are putting against this being true but as a victim of abuse I have to say that child abuse and BDSM unfortunately do often go together.
Child abuse is more disturbing than you can possibly think (and I'm not trying to patronise or criticise here, just explain something that fortunately most people aren't aware of).
"as a victim of abuse I have to say that child abuse and BDSM unfortunately do often go together"
I'm not denying you were abused, nor that *some* people may abuse children and engage in fetish or BDSM-like activities, however I have to object to your use of the word "often".
I have been making and selling BDSM gear for 18 years and have had a similar long association with the Fetish Scene (plus a more than passing familiarity with the legal side of such matters) and I cannot off-hand think of any cases where someone had participated in BDSM activities (ie between consenting adults) *and*, separately, had abused children.
Certainly someone who abuses children may also possess "a whip, handcuffs, and sex toys" to add to their activities, but I would not count that as being into BDSM by any usual understanding of the term.
Yes, abuse, regrettably, happens and, yes, abuse happens in BDSM relationships too, however I do not feel that a claim that "child abuse and BDSM *often* go together" is valid.
You seem to have got it back to front. This person isn't saying that BDSMers often abuse kids. He's saying that child molesters often enjoy BDSM as well. It's like how when you say that murders are often committed with guns, it is not the same as saying gun owners are all murderers.
The thing is, when someone says "child abuse and BDSM often go together" it pushes a big red button for me because that was the sort of thing that people were saying to justify the Dangerous Pictures Act (aka the Extreme Porn legislation)
Sure, regrettably, I have no doubts that some child abusers might use BDSM equipment (or similar) in their crimes, but that's not at all the same as BDSM between consenting adults which is why I objected to them (possibly unwittingly) being associated.
Hmmmm....
We hear of spam, we hear of child pr0n.
We all get lots of strange spam that is just random words, no return addresses, no contact details.... not so good if you are selling something right?
Stenography? Codes for the kiddie-fiddlers hidden in the random words?
A bit X-Files, so Black Helicopter time!
You have to wonder what goes on back at the orphanage. I've had friends in similar situations. They're vulnerable, no one gives a shit about them. They're getting it from each other as well as the orphanage staff... who probably arranged the abuse in this case in exchange for money. It's a nasty world we live in.

It seems the were 11 girls in total, ranging from 13 to 18 years old (meaning quite a few may have been legal, we don't know) some were indeed "borrowed" from orphanages on the pretext of him giving them some (to be fair, probably much needed) quality time. Other girls were from "wealthy families" (I don't know if that means actually rich or just compared to the orphans) and he bribed them with gifts, and trips to clubs and restaurants. And for his part, he says it was all consensual.
Google also translates his last name as "T-Shirt" for some reason.
