    VADER

I have Varied the emissivity of your Aerogel blanket, pray I don't vary it any further.

...Mine's the one with the Bert Glanston quotes in the pocket.

    WTF?

Why bother trying to shoehorn such a long-winded name into an acronym?

They could have just called it Geoff.

      Name ...

      Cholomondeleigh?

      Slartibartfast?

    "Canary" not an acronym

If the approaching spacecraft hits the canary in its little balloon, sensors are calibrated to pick up one final "squawk!" and then silence. Of course someone has to refill the water and birdseed occasionally.

    VADER?

I hear VEDAIBDZTCESFRS getting casually abbreviated to VADER all the time, rather like William to Bill.

    Hmm

"It's the most beautiful planet in the universe," said Fincke...

Followed by "Earth, fuck yeah!" presumably. Tsk.

Paris because, well, something about heavenly bodies....

    I prefer...

or VAGINA for short. It's not much more contrived than theirs, after all.
