  If you sue a 14 y/o, chances are they will declare bancrupcy and you wont even see enough to pay the lawyers' shoe polishing expenses, so you may as well push it as high as possible to scare the rest of the little people.
  
  But, they have a chance to actually collecting on this one. Wether they will get the whole amount is a different matter, but i would be surprised if they see nothing here.

AKA psycho-acoustic modeling... isn't that exactly how MP3/AAC audio compression works?

they're not fooling anyone here. All they did was rip tracks to MP3 and claim the compressed version was no longer the original.
