    NBN it

They should build it not just to the NBN specs, but for NBNCo. There's no point having the 2 of them running competing fibre networks, and having 2 non-competing networks operating in different geographical areas will just annoy ISPs.

Telstra needs to ditch the wholesale bit and go purely retail. NBN will kill their wholesale thing anyway.

      Exactly!

Telstra should have been split into wholesale and retail at the beginning! That way their wholesale customers aren't competing against their major supplier.

And then Telstra Wholesale could have handled the NBN rollout on their own, we wouldn't need an NBN Co. And they could have done it like this, bit by bit when it needs to be done, which would reduce the price drastically.

Oh, and that $11bn of taxpayer money NBN Co paid to Telstra for the use of the ducts? Yeah.

    Big hospital.

"The site will become a new children’s hospital, and covers the suburbs of South Brisbane, West End, Highgate Hill, Dutton Park and Fairfield."

The site covers 5 suburbs? That's one big hospital.

    Yeah, yeah: coat, door.

    Crappy for Business Users

Not so good for business users. As Telstra is forcing you to use this new fibre network, existing ADSL plans etc, will no longer be available.

Business users on ADSL Annex M plans, will be forced to go the full hog and get 100 Mbps / 5 Mbps. This is because the upload rate of the medium plan is 30Mbps / 1 Mbps. The upload rate is simply not good enough.

So this is simply a forced rip off by Telstra (ie no other choice at all) to force everyone onto their most expensive plans.
