    Is it everyone?

    I don't know about you guys, but I don't have any nude or compromising photos of myself... Seems that any time a celeb phone or email account gets hacked there's dodgy stuff on it.

    If you don't want the photos getting out, don't take them? Or at least store them on an encrypted drive, not on gmail (don't get me wrong, I love my gmail account, but it's already being trawled to serve up ads, and how much do you trust the staff at google?).

    This news is worthless without pictures....

    Hopefully Scarlet was using the iPhone4 camera for her nuddie shots :-)

    I'VE GOT A GOOD IDEA

    I'm famous - let's store compromising photos, and videos, in a public e-mail service. I think that would be really cool.

      Nah, you underestimate the intelligence of teenagers by some way

      Teens simply have no concept of what t'Internet is. They think it's safe. Despite many, many warnings my teenage children still say/do/post stupid things on the Internet. I constantly have to remind them that anything they say do/say/post is effectively in the public domain.

      Unfortunately they believe Zuckerberg and his chums that "we'll help you keep your stuff safe" a lot more than they believe me saying "Internet==not private."

        underestimate?

        Hardly surprising your kids don't listen ;)

    Sounds like...

    An ongoing publicity stunt to me.

    Either that or they are complete idiots. Whilst that doesn't condone what the hackers have done you'd have thought that if privacy was a major concern, that not keeping nude shots of yourself on or within your phone or Google mail account would have been a better idea.

    @I'VE GOT A GOOD IDEA

    Nearly - It's more like:

    "I'm not really famous but if I get some nuddie pictures of me released I might get to be Paris Hilton, or at least be mentioned on el' reg"

    ps. Do you think it would boost my fame in the C++ community if some nude photos of me got leaked from my PC? Is there a big market for middle aged, slightly chubby, programmer porn?

    If my account gets hacked can I involved the FBI? Can I have a meeting with FBI agents too?

      @BarryBob

      If meets the criteria yes . How do you know that the FBI only does this for celbs. Stop and think about it . Is it that the FBI only does it for celbs or that the news media only reports about celbs.

      Here is a hint I know some that had their e-mail hacked and the feds did get involved. It was one of the nastiest divorce/custody cases you could think of . Actually his email being hacked and the feds getting involved help him out alot .

    Best part of the article:

    "various pop tarts, including Lady Gaga and Justin Timberlake"

    And the reference to incompetent Sophos as always is hilarious.

    Well.

    It's a pretty big deal if someone fucks with your mail, so it should be the same for email. Good job.

    Though I still doubt the FBI would care if it happened to me, and I'm also curious as to how often the FBI reads people's email without asking...

    Perhaps "internet" is a bad name

    It sounds like it's inside, or under control - no wonder kids get confused. Let's start a campaign to call it the publicnet, no one could get confused about what's on publicnet. As long as your monitor clearly displays the "l"....
