Ehud Rokach, XtremIO's general manager and previously CEO before EMC bought it, is going to take a break from the biz he cofounded. His replacement is Dan Inbar, once CEO at N-trig, which Microsoft acquired, and a SanDisk exec. EMC announced Inbar’s appointment as CEO of XtremIO this week in Israel, where XtremIO is …

    Rumour correction

It's not XtremIO being EOL'd, it's the cofounder being EOL'd.

    Fixed that.

      Re: Rumour correction

Right. XtremIO is healthy. On Monday there was no roadmap to counter the rumors and today there's a major release coming. *Sniff sniff*..yup, smells like bs.

Well major release coming in 2017 huh? I guess those rumors are squashed...

...except...when was the last time a business/tech leader left BEFORE a major release? How smart is it to bring someone new in with only a few months BEFORE a major release that 'everyone is proud of'?

Are we talking product refresh or just another code upgrade? If it's just a code upgrade then the rumors are likely still valid. If it's a product refresh then this move, at this time, makes zero sense.

    A great loss for XtremIO

Over the past couple years EMC has repeatedly replaced great leadership talent with mediocre bureaucrats.

XtremIO is #1 and here to stay

    EMC Flash SE here:

This stuff is noise. Ehud is an entrepreneur, like many of the founders of companies that are acquired by EMC and others. Put a list of acquisitions on paper and look to see how many of the founders are no longer with the company. Do the products still exist? YOU BET! Do the entrepreneurs move on an found other new startups YOU BET!

Next Year is a Long Way Out

Promising a new system of hardware along with a new SW upgrade is easy. Actually making the product perform as expected is a lot harder. The features promised for this year have already slipped. Now we are going to get an entirely "new" X-Brick along with the promised features and lots of new ones "early" next year? Seriously ? How about delivering what was promised before trying to design a whole new system? 8K LUN limit - Array Based Replication - 16GB FC ???
