"one that’s 20 per cent of Nutanix's cost"
"all at 20 per cent lower cost than Nutanix.”
Which is it?
HPE is nothing if not persistent. Having launched a hyperconverged appliance that was half the price of Nutanix last August it’s now going to launch a better one – one that’s 20 per cent lower than Nutanix's cost. Sounds odd, and that’s not the only odd aspect. The new HCIA was described in HPE’s Q1 fiscal year 2016 earnings …
HP's Whitman said: “We very much like this product from a side-by-side comparison and features and functionality to our competitors. Feel really good about it and I think it means that we can be a leader in this quite large and fast-growing part of the market.”
She sounds like an 6 year old child talking
What are you trying to say? That her marketing positions didn't give her a deep understanding of computer engineering? She was very clear that this do-dad is better than the other whoosie-whatsees with a whole lot more technical whathaveyous and whatnot, so that is a good thing.
" . . shame about the software. One thing I've learned over the years in IT is that HP makes resilient, well-engineered hardware, but that their software chops are lacking"
100% uptime for 7 years with StoreVirtual VSA? Check!

That's the same StoreVirtual VSA software used in the HCI systems.
Yes the same StoreVirtual that the LeftHand Networks engineers built and has seen continued development under HP for 7 years. HP SIM hasn't been a thing for a longtime It's OneView these days and actually SIM was pretty much aimed at servers rather than storage, ask the LeftHand engineers.
Maybe using the wrong tool for the job at hand had something to do with past experience or maybe, just maybe you just had an axe to grind :-)
So we sold you the HCI kit and have worked on version 2 of the software but after realizing that the company is in a bad way financially we decided that we would not release it as version 2 as you would then qualify for a free upgrade under your existing contract so instead we are going to sell it as a new product and charge a fee for converting your old license to the new type.
