      it is important for technology companies to cooperate with law enforcement.

      Whilst a largely law abiding society is a prerequisite for a civilised one, this statement also means it is important for technology companies to cooperate with human rights abuses in dictatorships, since in those countries law enforcement is mostly about terrorising the population into submission.

    As a 5 eyes nation all of the politicians of all factions are compatible with mass surveillance. If they weren't the spooks from the other 4 eyes (and maybe traitors in their own country) would leak against them.

    If you haven't noticed, 5 eyes countries leaders, are all extremely pro-mass surveillance of their own country. The result of extensive shaping of politics.

    If they are universally looking to weaken crypto, why is Germany promoting E-Mail made in Germany, which guarantees that the email is encrypted from send to recipient, as long as both are within the boarders of Germany?
