Have we lost Dabbsy this week
I haven't noticed anything for the weekend this weekend. Is it me or is an article missing?

I don't "celebrate" Solstice in the sense of "too much fat, sugar and alcohol over several days", but rather just noting that the old year is over and the new year has begun. Seems even the calender can't get it right[0].
And truth be told, I've been mucking out stalls all day, every day, as I do every year for two weeks about this time. My gift to the field hands is sending them (and their girlfriends) on a visit to their family in the Yucatan for two weeks over Xmas & so-called "new years". Most of the nieces & nephews get a week or so of hard labo(u)r over "the holidays", and I usually manage to put their parents to work, too ;-)
Oh, and that's "jake", not "Jake". "Jake" is a completely different poster here on ElReg. I thought you were a "1980s coder"? Shirley[1] you, of all folks, would grok the difference?
[0] Say and/or believe whatever you want, but human-invented time/date systems are ignored by every other species on earth. They ALL follow the actual solar year.
[1] I'll try to stop calling you "Shirley" ...

Well, probably because Jake only posted twice, in November of 2008, and never mentioned Solstice. See for yourself:

And I just discovered another "Jake":
http://forums.theregister.co.uk/user/27355
Only posted 6 times, between mid Feb, 2009 and mid March, 2009.
Still no mention of "Solstice".
""1980s_coder", with an underscore."
I was referring to your claimed occupation, not your handle. Thus "a 1980s coder".
"Actually, it should be "1980s_coder^G", (ending with a terminal BEL character), but El-Reg forums don't support that."
Thank gawd/ess for that. Talk about an annoying idea.

"Why would anybody post about Solstice during November????"
Well, I posted about Solstice in February a couple times:
http://forums.theregister.co.uk/forum/containing/1320275
http://forums.theregister.co.uk/forum/containing/697670
And once in April:

You are not displaying anything resembling logic ... IMO, of course.
