lower density areas with nodes having big borders might benefit with this. A lot of edge condition phones and data modems might gain speed. As it is I notice my phone does change towers occasionally.
Isn't this just the coordinated multipoint (CoMP) idea with a sexier name?
I say 'just' CoMP, don't mean to suggest that it's not a great idea...I'd be happy to see it working but I'd be even happier to get a reliable 2G, 3G or 4G Vodafone signal here in semi-rural Bedfordshire...
