    Both companies have developed good chip tech so this might work out well for all concerned including consumers.

    Imitation is the sincerest phorm of flattery, and IT provides the easiest route to coveted riches.

    Big Blue, meanwhile, is investing more than $3bn in fundamental semiconductor research and development over the next five years as it hopes to develop new chips which, in all likelihood, it hopes to license out rather than make itself.

    Is that Big Blue and Abu Dhabi money chasing after the virtual sector lead headed up and commanded by ARM? A case of of you can beat 'em, try to join and enjoin with them?

    300mm fab? what are they making, power tubes?

    that's some hefty silicon, folks. forklift chips? 100,000 watt Zeners? IBM concert amps?

    I could believe 30 nm, perhaps. but that's 2000 technology, too.
