I'm guessing that's the old road, and that the Stuart Highway was constructed on a new line not far from it.

D'oh, there goes the career as a photographic intelligence analyst. Switch to Map view, and you'll see that it's marked as railway line. Or railroad, depending on your preference.

What they need are solar panels that will also convert the kinetic energy from raindrops into energy to charge the battery. Waste not, want not.
