"You've brought the weather from your country, then," quipped one member of the Spanish tentacle of the Tripoli Rocketry Association as I rolled up on Sunday morning to a …

    French rocketeers

There seems to be a correlation between the sizes of their rockets and bellies. Any explanation?

They're French. There isn't any explanation for anything French

The photos of the assembled rockets lying on their side in a rack made me think of a stash of wing-mounted ordnance. I wonder how much a you can get a surplus Sidewinder for, these days?

You may have to wait another year. There's a series of three films about it. We know they'll exist at least by 21 October, 2015...

      >How many of those rockets were pointed at Gibraltar!?

Makes no difference. Given your average Spaniards sense of direction where anything motorised is concernced being pointed at Gibraltar is a sure fire way of making the place the safest place to be.

And before anybody gets on about stereotyping and not knowing beans about anything, there was a joke doing the rounds here amongst the locals.

Para phrasing - Hussein wanted to know how he could tell who the tanks approaching Baghdad belonged to. That's easy said his general. If they a driving on the left they are British tanks and if they are on the right they are American ones. And what about the Spanish tanks? he asked. They'll be on the left and right.

Doesn't sound so funny in English but then Spanish jokes are rarely funny in Spanish either.
