back to article Backup bods Veeam quietly gobbling up ever-greater market share

Backup software supplier Veeam is quietly doing extraordinary things; it's growing its backup business while touting their latest software as a means to continue growing its market share. Veeam is privately-owned and focusses on virtual machine backup. It has no venture capital funding as far as we can tell. Despite that, it's …

    Stonking product!

Just had to say that they deserve the success. Brilliant product and nothing else seems to come close in functionality.

      Re: Stonking product!

Seconded, been using it for a year, of course it's not perfect (their tech support could be improved, possibly they're a little overwhelmed by the growth) but what it can do is pretty remarkable and it didn't cost the earth either. It's saved our virtual environment once already after we'd had it less than a year. v7 looks like it will be a superb update, it appears to answer all the shortcomings I had with v6.

Or you could just use Commvault....Much more comprehensive functionality.

      Recommendation from ACs

These always make me instantly wary of the product. It may be a great product and you may have a really good reason to be posting AC but nevertheless a recommendation from someone that does not want to show a pseudonym for some reason sends of the warning flags.

Commvault is a far more advanced product than VEEAM - I can second that. VEEAM is niche specialist. Commvault is full enterprise product.

See that's better. I have no Idea who TheVogon is still, but I instantly trust you more for not posting AC. I am looking into this at the moment so will at least take a look at it.

    Great product..

Shame about the company in general.

I used to be a loyal Veeam customer, but their customer service and account management is virtually non-existant these days. I've sent numerous emails for different reasons such billing, support and licensing. And I never recieved responses.

After a few months, I gave up, and since switched one of our sites to vRanger, then going forward we'll be switching to Unitrends.
