Why do people like JavaScript ?

If I could choose something to use for a project it would be Ocaml or F# if it is on Azure. (Maybe Go if it is for Google Appengine).

(Don't get why people like writing Python either it is no fun at all like JavaScript).

Why do people go for it ?

Re: Why do people like JavaScript ?

Yeah but not but yeah but...

Javascript is in its own too-laid-back-for-its-own-good way a decent language and if you like functional, as do I, it can do functional all the way.

Why anyone would use it server side use I cannot possibly understand. It's just wrong (AFAICS). Wiser minds please put me right.

Interesting how the provider that developed, offers, and supports Node.js isn't mentioned...
