Pranksters advertised a job vacancy for an official assassin on a UK government website to fool wannabe James Bonds into applying. The position of "target elimination specialist" [PDF] was published on the Direct.gov.uk website, supposedly on behalf of the Secret Intelligence Service (aka MI6 in some circles). The advert stated …
no women, no kids
An SIS/MI6 spokeswoman said the advert was fake
well, they would say that, wouldn't they?
Re: no women, no kids
And of course, "pulled as soon as discovered" really means, "pulled as soon as position was filled".

I've just had my tailor alter my dinner jacket for a shoulder holster.
Is it a good idea to upset someone who'd want to apply for a job like that?
It's certainly a good way to generate a list of people not to hire.
The article missed one of the jokes.
Shame. The article missed the "how to apply" part of the joke.
Went something like "Applicants should make contact by standing by a fake looking rock in regent's park."
Or an attempt by the government to get the names and details of potentially dangerous people on the UK?
... a disgruntled DirectGov employee who would like to hire someone to take out the GOV.UK team.
you don't actually need to apply for a job like this if you can find your own gun
if you can find your own gun
No your missing the point they all have to look like accidents.
Not just MI6, the police are looking for a killer as well
Alas they rejected my application, claiming they are looking for someone with experience.
Re: Not just MI6, the police are looking for a killer as well...
I applied.... but apparently it wasn't a job.
Maybe the job centre could put you on a training course
I like the part about need 5+ years experience.
Plenty of Russian speakers with that much experience
are SiS are issued with firearms then?
The author sure does have a vividly imaginative way with words at times...the rest of it, imho dribble... But I'm not going to spur a debate upon self defence and reasonable force... It might get awfully political for a desk worker! Dont quit the day job?
On a side note: I wonder if the lead man of Symantec (Norton) will go on the run for something... Or be schitzophrenically framed to the point of paranoia for something extravegant... Oh the conspiracies this author could conjure up!!
Way with words? :)
Dribble should be drivel =)
