Samsung Jelly Bean Car Dock Fail

"Upgraded" my Galaxy S3 (Orange/EE) to Jelly Bean - only to discover they removed all car dock-related functionality such as keeping the screen on, playing audio through the usb, even charging(?).

Does El Reg have leverage to get any answers on when a fix will arrive? Or at least name and shame the guilty?

Re: Samsung Jelly Bean Car Dock Fail

A bit curious why El Reg hadn't warned me off installing the upgrade in the first place. Did I miss the article?

Guys?

Re: Samsung Jelly Bean Car Dock Fail

I have the same problem, so I had a dig at Samsung about it, this was the reply:

"Thank you for contacting Samsung.

In regards to your email, due to the recent Jellybean firmware update released to our handsets there has been reports of handsets not working with car docking stations. We are fully aware of this issue and we have dedicated a team to writing a firmware update to resolve these issues. We understand the frustration this may cause and we are doing everything we can to get this update out.

I cannot confirm any dates as of yet but we hope to have this resolved soon."

Hope this helps :D

roll back the updates... and wait for fixes to arrive..

How to remove JB?

Thanks bastian - do you have a link for instructions to roll back without rooting? (I am not planning to root because of warranty)

Bastain's right, there are plenty of articles and even apps that allow you to use legacy versions. May be your best option.

Samsung Galaxy s3 has the jelly bean updates but it has some flaws in it, hoping for samsung to resolve it as early as possible.
