ScanJet sings number one hit
What to do does one do with outmoded printers and obsolete computers? Create a machine that plays over saturated, heavy rotation pop hits from Australia, of course. This week’s You Tube hit puller is from Canadian homestyle electronica boffin bd594 who has managed to use a 2004-vintage HP ScanJet 3c and an Amiga 600 to play …
Maybe
Meg should look into starting an HP all-scanjet band. It couldn't hurt, just sayin'.
Anybody remember....
...that golden head from W.Gibson´s Neuromancer, who talked not by synth, but through a set of controlled pipes and such? We are getting there, baby, we are getting there!
How many autographs to a cartridge?
Too many fans requesting autographs and the band goes out of business.
Anyone got the youtube link?
The Reg player doesn't work in Chrome.

Gotye - Somebody That I Used to Know - Old School Computer Remix
Re: Anyone got the youtube link?
It does work in Chrome. I'm using Chrome and it played just fine. But you can see it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DkaUsBwe0fo
Re: Anyone got the youtube link?
The Reg player works fine in Chrome for me.
I think my favourite musical computer component goes to

and
Radiohead - Nude

Could do without the torturous memory of waiting for tapes to load.
2004 scanners are not vintage
Scanners typically last for ages, and the specifications haven't changed a lot in the last 15 years.
Re: 2004 scanners are not vintage
Vintage originally meant, "from a particular year" with no connotation of being old necessarily.
Re: 2004 scanners are not vintage
I remember having to get an ISA SCSI card just for the scanner and you could only use it on one machine, unless you wanted to open up the machine and move the SCSI card. These days children have it much easier with USB.
Brain-penetrating
I was just thinking this morning on my way to work in the car, if I hear this Goitre song one more time I'm going to stick a screwdriver in my ears. A flat-blade one, not cross-head.
But just this once, I'll give this a listen when I get home. It'd better be more awesome than floppy-disk Star Wars theme or there'll be trouble.
Re: Brain-penetrating
I agree. And it was better because there was no vocal track.
Scanjet
We used to have a IIC. It's ribbed exterior (quiet at the back!) was a great dust gatherer.
I loved it's singing voice. Always knew it had potential. Glad to see it's offspring do well.
Now, long gone. Sad face.
It's pretty nice I guess.
The only issue is the annoying startup delay with the scanner.
I'm sure it could have been adjusted with a little tweak to the timing.
The floppy drive music of MrSolidSnake as referenced above is much more entertaining.
Especially the Touhou rendering.
