back to article Winklevoss twins stuff $1m into social network for the FILTHY RICH

Wanna know what the world's been lacking? A social network for hedge-fund bods, of course. And who better to be at the helm of such a brave Web2.0 venture than square-jawed Olympic rowing twins Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss - who rose from the ashes of their legal spat with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to plunge some of their …

social network for the FILTHY RICH

Reminds me of the old "Dear Rich Bastard" story. Hope they tested their mailing software...

has led to a global userbase that stands at nearly 1 billion people

Shameful that the reg parrots marketing nonsense for fakebook. Probably over half of their "1 Billion people" are unused and pure nonsense accounts, dog, cats, monkeys .. ok, animals.. cars, boats, books and other inanimate objects. Clearly, they don't have accounts for "1 Billion people" . If stockholders really knew the scope of the disaster called FaceBook, they would surely bail, so the fairy tale of "1 Billion people" must be upheld at all costs. Repeat the big lie often enough and the ignorant of the world will end up believing it. I think GM did the research and said, "we're outta here". Others should do the research too. FaceBook does not even deserve to be a publicly traded company because the filing was based on utter fabrication. The truth will come out eventually and people will land in jail. Zuck behind bars.. now that's karma.

Re: has led to a global userbase that stands at nearly 1 billion people

That was a very long paragraph to explain why 1 billion 'people' should have read 1 billion 'accounts'. It was also so long that you lost your way and ended up at "Zuck behind bars". What axe are you trying to grind here?

Disclaimer: I don't have a Facebook account, but I liked the movie The Social Network and am entirely aware that it's writers took varying degrees of artistic license.

Ooh!

A "private" facebook for insiders who trade stocks for a living. What could go wrong with that?

If intelligently vetted, what couldn't a super smart network not do? Old money is dead, Long live new ideas and ab fab programs/SMARTR Pogroms.

Re: Ooh!

Nothing can go wrong for them.....they make the money, say opps did not know about those rules we have been breaking, we did to realise that this was insider trading. Give up working in the financial sector of 2 years and enjoy the millions they have creamed out of our pensions!

Nothing will go wrong for them......us on the other hand, well that's another story.

"disaster called FaceBook"

for the people that have made a LOT of money I wouldn’t call it a disaster. Its put money beyond the wildest dreams of its founders, no matter who stole or did not steal the idea.....

For the millions of users that use it day in and day out its no disaster....

For my less computer savvy family and friends, it keeps them in contact with each other without me having to fix the email settings constantly, for me that’s no disaster....

For our seaside guest house, most of our repeat customers keep in contact through facebook and over 60% of our bookings come through facebook and ost new customers come from friends of friends.... that’s no disaster, in fact its kept us in business while others around us have closed down..

The only disaster has been the plummet in share prices when it was floated, but for facebook and its users its business as usual.

Am I the only one....

The only press I want to see on the Winklevoss twins is that they've released a porno.

And not an ordinary one. I mean, one that's really TWISTED and makes you feel dirty inside just hearing ABOUT it.

Anything less (e.g.: their business ventures) are just wasted on me.
