Compare The Market can't touch web filth extension - simples
Price comparison biz Compare The Market has lost its bid to seize the domain name comparethemarket.xxx. BGL Group, which owns the Compare The Market brand, has the unpleasant distinction of being the first company to lose a cybersquatting case in the new adults-only .xxx extension. The owner of the domain, listed in the Whois …
Quote "when it introduced its hugely well-known commercials featuring Aleksandr Orlov, a computer-generated Russian meerkat"
He's real I tell you, REAL!
Re: WHAT FOOLISHNESS IS THIS
PORNGOGRAPHY?
I THOUGH YOU WANTED SPAWNOGRAPHY AS YOU LIKE REPTILES AND STUFF.

X-rated Meerkats
So who's got comparethemeerkat.xxx? Will this be the next campaign?
Now trying to block my mind from the thought of the xxx version of Go Compare....
Re: X-rated Meerkats
I now have a mental image of a lady's intimate area singing opera. I hate you so much right now.
meerkat pr0n
Oh no! How will Sergey cope with the increased traffic to computermabob from perverts looking for meerkat pr0n?
Re: meerkat pr0n
Say what you like, the brand is clearly working... :)
Will nobody think of the child meerkats?
So which market am I going to be able to compare on www.comparethemarket.xxx?
cheap russians brides? Cheapest cam girls?
Although personally I would rather avoid the cheapies, probably fat.
I look forward to seeing comparethemarket.xxx's mascot
presumably it will be a beaver of some sort.
Re: I look forward to seeing comparethemarket.xxx's mascot
comparethemerkin.xxx
Now I feel I should apologise...
Re: I look forward to seeing comparethemarket.xxx's mascot
I see what you did there...
Re: I look forward to seeing comparethemarket.xxx's mascot

Registering comparethebeaver.com and .xxx in three... two... one...
What a crap judgement
It is clearly a bad faith registration, in fact I'm amazed that they haven't just gone straight for trademark infringement. Stelios can sue anyone using either the word 'Easy' as a suffix or the colour orange, this is far more egregious.
Re: What a crap judgement
I think the people at Easynet might disagree given that Stelios tried and failed with that one.
Re: What a crap judgement
Actually, the "Easy-" part goes on the beginning of the term in question. That makes it a PREFIX.
</pedantry>
Stelios I think also tried to sue a local bird I know who has a reputation for being too easy! He's not the first to sue her, in fact the local clap sufferers society wanted to try and start a class action!
Fake Tannery?
Was it the "easy" soubriquet or the orange colour?
You're looking at it the wrong way
Anything that registers/blocks the xxx domain in order to prevent it from being used and NOT offering xxx services should automatically lose a case against anyone who wants to provide smut on that domain - this is what the domain is for, after all.
www.comparethemerkin.xxx !!!
I'm awaiting this one with some trepidation...
So what happens if they (in the future) go ahead and open up the extensions to be any word? ... Due to this legal ruling, that would mean trademark and copyright holders would then need to register potentially an unlimited number of versions of their domain name. This legal ruling gets increasingly unworkable the more extension names that appear.
That's exactly why
.com is considered by many to be the only TLD that matters.
@paulc - I'm more worried about... www.comparethegherkin.xxx !!!
The post is required, and must contain letters.
Comparison sites
Frankly, Joe Watkins of Gwent's blank page is probably considerably more helpful than the average 'comparison' site - does anyone actually use these things?
Re: Comparison sites
Quite alot of people from the looks of things.
computer generated meerkats on TV dont come cheap
Re: Comparison sites
