Good thing, too. I was worried for a spell that it might turn out to be impossible but entirely practical and was not looking forward to the ensuing destruction of reality.

Every qualified RF engineer in world knew that.

There will be tears to come when users hack the gear and disable the database. It's too early yet to see what a disaster this.

Also this gear for US market will be "grey imported" everywhere else. Very irresponsible of FCC. But they are more interested in Boutique strategy than protecting Licensed Spectrum. The Lightsquared fiasco is partly FCC's fault too.

Lack of problem

may be more due to lack of people using OTA TV. Once the Digital cutover was complete, a lot of folks found their antennae of more use to birds than humans, and had to move to cable or equivalent.

Not that I'm suggesting there was any sort of agenda there...
