"[Citi will use Watson's abilities] ... to help deal with its customers."
That sounds ominous.
Get behind on your credit card bill, and the next thing you know, a T-800 shows up at your home to "encourage" you to pay up...
I've been hoping that since this thing was partly intended for medical purposes that it'd feature on an episode of House M.D.. Since apparently this is going to be the last season i guess it's not going to happen, although it would have been amusing to see.
Think of Larry Niven's Draco Bar.
See "THE SCHUMANN COMPUTER"
Kind of says it all about this tech...
Citi wield out Honeypot for Hackers .... Colour Hatted and Otherwise Ethical
Does Watson have secure vetted email for hot customer contact initiatives ...... or would that be too direct and simple a root to provide input and feedback and require a human decision to complicate it.:-)
Citi do know/have been told that computers are routinely hacked to extract all valuable information discovered within ...... and they think Watson is a good idea?
Does IBM own the Citi Board Room?
No wonder it won jeopardy...
its competitors were distracted: "[Watson] beat off human competition"
Surely this story should be under Rise Of The Machines(TM)?
Rise and fall
No, it was the humans who were "beat[en] off".
Orac
It really needs an annoying voice and a smartarse attitude to be a success. And they should house it in a perspex box with flashing lights.
