Sometime next week I hope just about everyone with a Reg account will be able to start up their own topics. But for now we have to manually give super powers.

Does this mean that the default "Post" text that says "No HTML" would be replaced for the power users?
No HTML...

Was it intentional not to allow underline, superscript and subscript?
Those are about the only ones (particularly superscript) that I would probably use.

I'd like a crack at that. I have some thoughts on hardware/software demand that I'd like to run by the assembled worthies (and Barry).

It was intentional to start off with a limited set of html formats and those are the ones we picked for now.

Suggestion for a forum upgrade
How about a forum wide scoring table giving a list of posts that have scored particularly high - or low - in upvotes/downvotes as this will give an idea of what topics are interesting people.
Perhaps giving all time as well as in the past month.
Not that I am competitive in anyway shape or form honest (46 upvotes is the best I have managed on a single post)

Ian - funny that you mention that. But this is something I would like for our next round of upgrades.

...so this is why people have been able to use markup, I though they had found some bug in the input filters.
Could I be bestowed with the powers of markup please Drew? I promise to use them for good only! ... Or I could just start using lolcat speak (that seemed to work for someone else!) ;)

Here is another suggestion
In the drop down box, which lists posts in oldest newest thread order, what about a link to "your latest post" or something? Might make it easier to jump to ones own comments, when part of a long and tedious thread
