Many of those entering the competition to create Nokia's next ringtone have pulled out all the stops, but the current front-runner has limited himself to the one marked Vox Humana. Currently at the top of the popular vote, with 26,728 likes, The Great Marvellous is a rendition of Nokia's unmistakable ringtone which has to be …
Worth noting that while it has lots of 'likes' it has a low rating (2 stars), which goes to show that a lot of people will go, "thats crap, but i like it"
Doesn't that basically sum up reality television, various politicians, and the vast majority of Facebook?
I'm sorry D@v3, I can't let you do that.
We, the humble and unwashed masses, don't seem to be able to affect the star rating of any of the entries; we can like 'em, or we can sod off.
still no stinking title
Or they are thinking that will annoy nokia, I like it
A dodo ringtone ?
Would certainly suit Nokia's sales chart.
are there descriptions of how the dodo call sounded ?
... given it got exterminated way before audio recording devices were available, what actually is known about the dodo's song ? Any references it sounded somewhat like Nokia's ringtone ?
can't play it :)
am dying to hear what it sounds like but won't play on my work pc :(
shall have to wait until i get home, oh the suspense!!!!
Ner ner ner ner, ner ner ner ner, ner nah nah nah nerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Brilliantly craptastic, had me laughing and the rest of the office groaning and laughing in equal measure.
When I read that..
"Ner ner ner ner, ner ner ner ner, ner nah nah nah nerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr."
When I try to turn that into music in my head, all I get is
some are really good
I wish I could download a few of them for use as my ringtones.
Audacity - wot u hear
I'm sayin nuffink
You know about computers, right?
I was going to go for the irony factor and download it for my Blackberry :D
Have to agree
The second entry is, for a progressive house fan like me, actually rather nice... :-)
Even if it gets nowhere in the competition, I bet people will still download it and put it on their phones.
I want this. I want this now.
... here you go, but it's your funeral
something that's dead already but doesn't know it yet.
Oh, hang on....
that sort of reflects the mess Nokia have got themselves into at the moment.
Even the top-ranked ones are terrible though.
I rather liked Nokiopera!
So good to see a thriving company
It's so good to see a company thriving to the point where spending money on a new font or a new ringtone won't negatively impact research and development of new products that will sell.
Were it not for the requirement that the new ringtone be derived from the old, I'd suggest variants of:
Through Bein' Cool, DEVO.
Start me up, The Rolling Stones
Or just skip to the denouement:
The Windows Start-up Sound, Microsoft.
Actually, Brian Eno wrote the Windows XP startup and shutdown jingles.
I must be old fashioned
What's wrong with 'brrr brr'?
Well, I guess if it's cold outside...
That's the most liked ringtone?
Wow.. What a horrible ringtone!
I don't have a Nokia
So I voted for it!
Next already made this mistake when Roland won the public vote. When will companies learn that public votes just get trolled like mad now? :/
Not working for me.
Shows NaN:NaN/NaN:NaN as the timestamps when it tries to play.
So someone is trying to feed it data as a timestamp, something is fubared.
Actually, the functionality of this equals the internet browsing functionality of my Nokia phone, ie. Mostly Broken, so perhaps it is intentional on Nokias behalf?
Mostly Broken (an update)
Tried the site on IE, and it worked.
Microsoft crippling Nokia-related functionality on non-MS browsers these days.
The ringtone itself is mildly amusing.
Progressive Nokia is so dancy, it could almost be a BBC news jingle.
The letters is required, and must contain post!
I have a Nokia 6700 slide, battery lasts a day, and its not even a smart phone, so I voted!
When I first heard it I faced-palmed.
But having listened to the ones below it, I'm now of the opinion it IS the best one there.
I think it is mint! Stuck it on my android. I´m sure the novelty will wear off in a day or two, but fuck it, why not.
used to use
Had the Wurzels oi've got a brand new combine... the remix version at that :) on my old MS smartphone... brilliant ring tone :) no one else had it that was for sure.
