Whilst reading this article the page was displaying a Blackberry banner ad, a skyscraper ad, a block ad in the copy and to the side an ad for a 'Win a BB' competition. The comments page is equally splattered in BB ads.

Sites like Gumtree are too sleazy and on FB (i have seen a few) she doesn't really need to advertise her services. She might put a semi nude or generally hot pic as her profile pic and then spam fanpages by saying "please add me". If you add her (which i did a few times and then removed) you will have access to her sem naked pics. Just a quick emal saying "hi do you do escort"? brings up her prices, availability and things she does and does not do. If FB shuts her profile down, she will open another one continuing the cycle

I have heard of Professor Venkatesh before - he appears in one chapter of Steven Levitt's book "Freakanomics", where he was involved in a project to document the working economics of a drugs gang (not being white or black, he was able to gain the trust of the gang leader, even down to checking out where the money was being made and where it went). Apparently his current project was also in partnership with Steven Levitt.

The choice of phones makes sense.
Most of those who worked out that a smartphone would help them make money did so a few years ago, when Blackberry was the smartphone of choice. No doubt the iphone will achieve some penetration of this market when it feels good and ready but it's a slow-starter and needs a lot of coaxing to cater for such a modern customer base.
