DoJ double eyes Google flight data play
Google's proposed $700 million acquisition of flight data outfit ITA Software is receiving extra scrutiny from the US Department of Justice. On Friday, with a blog post, Google told the world that it has received a "second request" from the DoJ, meaning the feds want additional information as they continue to review the deal. …
I'm not so sure about this...
I dont know if allowing Google to make this purchase would be a good thing, Google is getting a little broad with their data collection habits.
Seriously, they coming really close to becoming a one stop shop for law enforcement data mining, they already have most people's search data including purchasing history and fetishes, many people's email data, calendars, contacts and documents, and lets not forget google vioce to cover voice communications. They are working hard on getting their hands on everyone's medical records with google health, now they want to add your travel plans / history to the mix.
All they'll need after that is google banking to complete the circle, then law enforcement will only need to request a single subpoena or search warrant depending on how bad you pissed them off. The FBI, NSA, DOJ, CIA, MI5/6 and every other law enforcement / (lack of)-intelligence agency will be building offices near or on the google plex...
