Nips slip past Apple censors
iPhone fans with a penchant for naked breasts and an inability to surf the web can now play puzzles containing risqué images - in apparent violation of Apple's 'no naughty bits' policy. But these ones are allowed 'cos they're art. The new applications consist of sliding puzzles showing nudes taken from classical paintings, which …
Title
"Quite where art becomes porn is a long running debate, and one that we're not going to get into here"
So the Ed said "no" to your repeated requests to research the subject then?
@Arkasha
Actually the editor said: "Stay away from my research project you $$%@!"
Paris cause...
It's an obvious move
Once any platform allows porn, it's a race to the bottom.
Carry On Up The Phone
When I said I wanted breasts on my handheld, this wasn't what I had in mind.
Modigliani paintings
Would look alright when really pissed. I mean *really*.
Not really nips though...
They're just blobs of paint. Yeah, OK, I know that they're just pixels anyhow -- but I can't see many parents being too worried about their kids seeing paintings of naked people* at least outside of the US's bible belt.
*Assuming there's nothing too overtly sexual involved I suppose.
Blobs of paint
They may just be blobs of paint but don't forget current UK law says blobs of paint or indeed accumilations of Lead in the right combinations can send you to jail and get you on the sex offenders register.
nice one
"Apple started pulling off porn apps"
so as to stop the rest of the world from doing it??
snigger
"Apple started pulling off porn apps..."
No THAT's hypocrasy!
Porn/art differentiator
I was told the main difference between art and porn is if you add a midget to the picture and he doesn't look out of place, it's probably porn.
Hmm...
...wouldn't that make pretty much any portrait of Napoleon porn?
There are quite a few midgets in Renaissance art.
But then, a lot of Renaissance art is porn, really.
But according to "QI"
and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Napoleon (um... hello sailor!), which may have been rewritten just after watching "QI", he wasn't particularly sort, especially for that time - 170 cm, or 5 feet 7 inches.
Not to mention Henri Toulouse-Lautrec
I suppose honestly, a lot of his pictures are a bit spicy, too...
Oh?
Quite a lot of classical statues have a todger in full view. I wonder if those would be OK?
You guys might want to avoid...
...the Balthus, great art or not.
US VS Porn
Not all of us in the Good 'Ol US of A have issues with porn:
1)All porn is art
2)As both my children are girls, they can see breasts anytime they want
3)Boobies are supposed to make you smile.... they're magic
