Samsung has taken the wraps off its latest Android smartphone - the Galaxy S, based on version 2.1 of the Google mobile OS. The S sports a 4in, 800 x 480 OLED touchscreen and a 5Mp camera with 720p HD video recording. Assisted GPS provides location data, while Samsung's own Layar UI handles augmented reality tasks. Layar not Samsung

Pretty sure Layar is not "Samsung's own UI" ... its an app that can be downloaded from the Android marketplace + its also availble on iPhone.
Layar is an Augmented Reality browser
...Layar is not Samsung's own app...its an Augmented Reality browser app available from http://layar.com/
The Apple/iPod dominace is failing by the hour.
1 Manufacturer, 3 Products using Apples OS and Store (iPod/iPhone/iSlab thing)
17 Manufactures, multiple device types ( Handsets, settop boxes, tablets) hundred of products currently using Android and the Android marketplace, thousands next year...
I think Apple's time in the app-store sunshine is well and truly over... The only real resistance to Android is perhaps Symbian..
re:The Apple/iPod dominace is failing by the hour.
You may be right but Android has been around a while now and it still has to make significant inroads into the whole iTunes arena.
Google seems happier to quote number of apps in the marketplace as opposed to how many have been downloaded/sold for etc.
I suspect with the spate of new "decent" android devices coming into play now that it might change. iPhone still has the "sexy" factor despite what we and others say about its technical capabilities.
re:Thre Apple/iPod dominace is failing by the hour.
Who wants to make inroads into the iTunes store? Nobody would use it had they not been locked in by their choice of phone.
As the iPhone looses it's dominance, so will the iTune store loose it's hold. Consumers are FINALLY waking up, that being locked into iTunes is a really bad thing, and that being able to CHOOSE where you get your music from (as is the case with Android) is a much better option.
