An employee of Sydney's Macquarie Bank probably isn't in line for a fat payrise after he was caught on live TV closely analysing something a bit more scintillating than the Lucky Country's interest rates: According to net experts, at least one of the photos in question is Orlando Bloom's squeeze Miranda Kerr. The Victoria's …
Bad Porn Shui
porn shui - the art of an internet porn surfer to position him or herself in a manner that not only obscures the provocative computer screen from public view, but also gives the surfer the ability to detect any intrusive dangers immediately.
Cynical moi?.... never
Erm this all smells of viral
Of course the Bank will do the PR spin about sacking him etc etc but lets face it the Banks name will be heavily publicised as will the network that let it happen
Fair play to all parties involved ... and how long will it be until this is used as another justification for the Great Electronic Barrier Reef
For the record I approve of this harmless fun style of advertising
the look on his face when his co-worker points out the camera !!!
followed by a guilty smile at the end
At least one person was getting a rise....
Come on, someone had to do it...
Made the news more interesting
Net experts my arse
Looks the company security thingy isn't working today. Aha, I feel a financial instrument coming on.
High grade item for a Tuesday, I must say - beer to you.
Can I be the first ...
to not rise to the obvious banker joke!
Paris because ... well its obvious isn't it.
I'll bet he feels a tit
I believe you mean muff.
...right up until the point were he turned and looked into the camera.
Paris for obvious reasons
I love how near the end he turns around and notices the cameras there. Would have been great if you had a little longer to see the look on his face when he realized what had happened.
...someone sent him an email and he was opening the attachments one by one. Not really porn anyway is it? More sort of FHM level stuff really. I wouldn't sack him- I'd sooner sack the guy that sent him the email.
That would have been a good basis for claiming it wasn't his fault, if he hadn't carefully gone through them all and decided to view one full-screen for a better view.
"This image violates HR policies! I'd better check all the other attachments so I can make a full report..."
Imagine how much worse it would look if he was using a multi-touch to zoom in.
Everything else is priceless
Major fail for him, enjoyable for the rest :)
Interest Rates Rise...
...Paris becuase her pictures make more than interest rates rise. Or something.
Is that what counts for porn nowadays?
I'm sure Paris could give you lot a better definition - it certainly doesn't include lingerie wearing pictures of models.
It seems to me that he was either pranked or dared by a co-worker as it was an email client he was loading the images off. Most likely he was sent them by someone who knew he was in full view of the camera.
Swift move, there, pal. I'm off to send that clip's URL to FailBlog before somebody beats me to it.
Actually, some nude fotos of that Australian news anchor would be nice, too.
(Btw, what the hell is it with TV news studio sets these days, anyway? What's with all the goddamn' monitors? Fox News in the States has a set that looks like Mission Control; this Australian channel's set kinda reminds me of the bridge of the Enterprise. Enough with the goddamn' walls of monitors, already. I'm not impressed.)
Walls of monitors...
"this Australian channel's set kinda reminds me of the bridge of the Enterprise."
It was annoying, yes, but the anchor-girl more than made up for it.
As to those able to identify the person in the photos, I guess you'd be the ones watching in 1080p HD, huh?
Not to mention the model in question getting a lot of free publicity herself. Actually she might be better positioned (ahem) to make use of it than the bank.
Yeah he's definitely opening attachments from an email in outlook.
They should have had content filtering in place.
They should also have warned the poor plonkers who had screens on view to be on their best behaviour!!!
glad to see they've got their eye...
... on the markets and trend analysis and other important stuff.
no wonder the economy is f--ked if they can't keep their mind on the the job
"hardened bankers" indeed
Oh Come Now
the porn industry is a major revenue and profit centre of an economy, I am sure this was just fruitful research and due diligence.
Who works for a bank
Who works for a bank and allows their monitor to be in a position to be filmed by a TV crew, regardless of what is on the screen? instant sackable offence, even without pron.
Actually, agreed on that count. It seems quite odd to be able to view stuff, possibly secret, in the middle of a bank. On the other hand, sacking an entire floor might be a bit, harsh. Especially as some tit in management possibly agreed to the cameras in the first place.
This is standard cross promotion
masquerading as news and is common practice in Oz
Most news programs downunder have such deals in place and every bulletin they will cross to their "finance expert" who proceeds to list the days stock market activity against a backdrop of prominent corporate logo's and "hard working bankers" doing "impressive banking stuff" on computers with screens covered in figures, charts and graphs.
Which way is it trending?
Looks like it's trending up!
Before the Interweb
What did we all do to waste time at work when we were bored before ubiquitous Internet access became the norm in the workplace..?!
What happened next...
What was she talking about?
Something to do with wankers I think, but I can't be sure I was a bit distracted! :-)
What porn? Did I miss something?
Where is the porn here?
You must be referring to that hardly visible picture on the monitor in the background where you can hardly tell what he is looking at, let alone who.
/* Move along... nothing to see here... */
You can see that the newsreader had seen what was happening. Kind of cute!
Am I the only one that saw...
It was an attachment?
He had Outlook open, and he's obviously opened the attachment - hardly porn surfing.
I suspect the guy that hovers was the one that sent it to him as 'find the butterfly on these pics to win $$$'s' knowing that its in view of the camera.
<-----------witty comment about paris command--------------->
<% Oncomment about sex INSERT paris picture%>
Anyone who thinks that's porn clearly doesn't get around much... Plus, this could easily have been a practical joke by a colleague.
Either way ... who the hell cares? Half the word in flames - but perish the thought a healthy man might actually be looking at a nipple...
I suspect one of his colleagues set this guy up, especially as he looks around at the camera just before the end. Looks like a wind up to me.
HA HA HA HA!!
HA HA HA HA HA.... "Sydney's 'Hardened' Bankers".
Know we know how!!!
Sorry.... just couldn't resist it
Looking at Miranda Kerr's GQ photos is "porn-surfing"?
Has The Register received a defamation writ yet from Miranda Kerr for your implication that her photographs in GQ Magazine are "porn"? Will we see Mr Plod rushing to the newsagent to confiscate a few copies for use as evidence in prosecuting GQ?
What was the Ed doing other than casting an eye over the actionability of headlines? Taking a lead from a Macquarie banker?
the ninemsn website here in oz
... has had a link to some Miranda Kerr photo shoot amongst its advertising flotsam all weekend.
NineMSN is the default news/homepage for Australian installs of IE, so it tends not to be blocked.
(I havent checked out the link myself, my current PC is fully exposed to an open plan office, so I restrict myself to browsing text articles as far as possible... and when I'm not at work, I dont bother with NineMSN at all)
Thats a proper work place wind up... my moneys on the guy who comes over talking to him being the guilty party for setting him up as well...
Only doing his job
He should be praised for his diligence for keeping an eye on assets.
Do you think the newsreader had seen?
She kept asking him if he was expecting a rise soon...
I bet that newsreader has a fanpage now though :)
Good old fashioned banking.
First Church of iPod Presbyterians buys El Reg
Consequent upon the change of ownership -- and why the hell weren't we told of it first? -- what else will be sensationally upgraded by El Reg to oblige the new Puritanism now enshrined here?
Porn surfing indeed.
No sign anywhere of an erotic coupling on a Bondi board coming off of a full swell.
Frankly, I'm disgusted.
'Support' group (snigger)
"Save Dave" group emerges.
Does seem like a set-up (ooer, missus) to me. Too bloody obvious. No-one would risk that at work. (El. Reg. crew excepted, but only for 'journalistic reasons' - like - how you folks found it in the first place...Yeah, right.) "Pot, kettle on line one".
