SVC already does scale out and fault tolerance
SVC has had a scale out architecture from the first release so has always done what is described in this extract from the article: "A scale-out architecture could imply clustering with linked SVCs co-operating in some way to work collectively rather than as stand-alone nodes. There could then be a failover arrangement to ensure operations continued if an SVC node failed, and load-balancing arrangements as well".
Not much value to putting FCoE on SVC
SVC creates virtual volumes on Fibre Channel attached storage arrays. SVC does not function as protocol converter or storage router. It typically connects to the Fibre Channel SAN fabric close to the storage arrays, typically connecting to the the same Fibre Channel director class switches the storage arrays are connected to.
Unless SVC is virtualizing native FCoE arrays, there is no need to put FCoE attachment on the SVC.
FCoE is an approved standard since June 3, 2009
