This is pretty freaky. From biology I remember DNA is just info storage to make proteins, and it's the protein chains directly copied (translated) from the DNA which fold up in fantastic ways to make all sorts of cool things. But now, watch out, they are folding the DNA itself in order to do alls sorts of froody things.
How much of an improvement is expected?
OK, so technology goes forward. But what is the projected improvement? Better/faster/cheaper/blah/blah/blah is well and fine, and the future prospect of a Skynet/Cyberiad/1984 is swell, but until then could we have some guesswork specs?
I'd also like to know how research using diamond substrate is coming along. Supposedly one of the "cultured" diamond producers has that as their long-term goal. Do they have basic transistors and gates or 4004-level stuff done?
