    Maybe,

    But primarily an IP licensing House.

    Some Qualcomm IP they claim is free, but but you can't get it without licencing the expensive IP.

    Qualcomm is a huge obstacle to innovation and competitive pricing.

    sure it is, and a darn good chip maker it is. and with the demise of texas instruments wireless division, qualcomm is by far the best chip designer for the mobile phone market.

    Abusing its market dominance just happens to be Qualcomm's business model. They have given us some very good technology but pissed off their customers by being heavy-handed over the past few years. That is why everyone is going to LTE for the next gen technology. Granted it is not completely free of Qualcomm IP rights but it is much less encumbered.

    Like an old business prof said: "pigs get fed, hogs get slaughtered". Qualcomm in this case is a big fat old hog and people are sharpening their knives.
