Vacuous fools with no lives, looking at z-list celebs with no talent, get their machines infected and with any luck get taken off "da web". I fail to see the problem?

they do more than discuss tat like big brother celebrity ice skating, they discuss things like sky, top up tv, hardware and faults etc its pretty darn handy, hope they get it sorted

As above it's actually a very good site besides the 'realisty tv' section. Excellent for broadcasting news, new channels, Sky & Virgin Media issues, Radiot etc

DS to big brother/TV fans, is no more than the reg is to us computer geeks. "get a life" sadly usually applies to both sets of people. Even more sad, I fall into both categories.

Their forums have been down for most of this morning, occasionally going back up for a few moments before falling over again. There was a post saying they're having database problems, so I wonder if they've been SQL nobbled themselves as a result of this?
Still, serves them right along with the illiterate fuckwits who post there. No doubt the delicious beauty of the "Welcome home, your a star in are eye's" banner put up for Susan Boyle by her neighbours was lost on them, if not wrien by them...

As a regular visitor to both here and there, I would say that El Reg's 'Comment' area also features a similar degree of vacuous commentary, only with an occasional IT bent to it, so if I were you, I wouldn't start waving my woggle too enthusiastically. However, if this knocks a few of the funktards that inhabit DS, then so much the better I say. There's far too much hatred of others on there these days.
Paris, because whilst DS is a bit lightheaded and has its knockers, it does have some uses too, especially if you're after some evening entertainment.

Site also has technical discussions on broadcasting standards (I mean the multiplexing systems and DVT/B etc., not whether Dr Who is qualiy television), breakdowns of the PVRs and hacking into their systems as well as general broadcasting info such as how to locate your nearest transmitter its, output wattage and polarisation.

ABP... NoScript... NoStyle...NoImage.. the web like it used to be... fast, clean, easy to read and decease free...

I agree.
If it were not for Digital Spy I would have had to pay someone to realign my sat dish for my new Humax Freesat PVR box. Instead I tracked down the the snippet of advice that gave me a picture.
You see, I was getting 90% signal strength, but 0% signal quality. Thanks to DS I learnt that this meant I was pointing at the wrong satellite, and that I needed to point towards another more easterly one on the horizon. Job done. ££££'s saved.
I do agree though. There is a lot of vacuous time wasting gossip about nothing in particular on there.

Not looked at the site then?!
Yes, sleb stuff is there but also the best support for all TV/ADSL problems -- it's always the first port of call when I have a problem or need to know something technical.

...until it got taken over by the reality TV obsessives.
It used to be an invaluable resource for help with Sky+ in the early days.
Now it just seems like a site for people to bitch about TV, movies and each other.
...flashback to Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (moviepoopshoot.com)...
There are many posters on the forums that I struggle to believe can function in the real world. There seems to be an unbelievable lack of social skills on there.
I banned myself from going on there months ago after the reality TV stuff got too much.

This is not a new problem they're having- Digital Spy is often flagged in Google searches as being a source of malware.

That's the only thing I care about. Is Firefox vunerable? Is Opera? Is the exploit delivered thru Flash ads??? What the hell. What a lack of specifics in this article. I need specifics!
Is the exploit a mix of flash ads and JS? Is it regular image ads (jpg, gif, png) , just their scripts that are malicious? Please answer this immediately. I'm tried of these "mysterious malware delivered thru ads" stories without specific information.

"That's the only thing I care about. Is Firefox vunerable? Is Opera? Is the exploit delivered thru Flash ads???"
It got my Mac via Safari which has plug-ins disabled (=no Flash) and banner ads disabled (using userContent.css). Clearly that wasn't enough and I had to disable Javascript to solve the problem of being diverted to a gambling site.
"If it were not for Digital Spy I would have had to pay someone to realign my sat dish..."
You could have gotten the same advice from satcure.com without the risk of malware.
The Jolly Roger, because my Mac got boarded for the first time ever.
