It's evident that Google is having a busy time of it down on Blighty's mean Street View - pulling dodgy content left right and centre as quickly as net wags gleefully pinpoint outrages against common decency. Birmingham has proved fertile ground for such spots, including some poor geezer taking a slash (now pulled), and this …
Removed? I think not!
Google have removed two of the closest camera shots of the lad relieving himself. Just go up the road 2 clicks due East (to outside the petrol station), rotate the camera back on yourself and there he still is. Anyone for a quick encore of "He's behind you!".
Oh, the buggers. Overtired?
Mine's the one with the new neighbour's car keys :P
Why do Google remove the WHOLE image for dodgy content? Why don't they just Photoshop out the offending area?
If a decent Photoshop job is too much effort just a small patch over the offending area, leaving the rest of the image viewable would be fine.
Seems odd to completely remove the whole image just for a few hundred square pixels.
According to yesterdays Independent...
...Google Streetview also offered up pictures of naked children playing in their back garden. Now I thought that ownership of such material constituted possession of child pornography.
Better get ...
the Internet Watch Foundation onto this one.
I like the caption on the blue pipe
Highly appropriate indeed.
We arent all street pissing yobs - I promise! Although both areas shown aren't exactly Birmingham Utopia. Have a browse around Nechells - you might see some gangs in their natural habitat.
I hope that the awful people caught DISGUSTINGLY urinating in public are going to be TRACKED DOWN and prosecuted TO THE FULL EXTENT OF THE LAW. It's PERVERTS like these that are ruinign my beautiful country and encouraging immigration!!
And that man, the one who is watching the filthy boy urinating, he should be put into the STOCKS. He's a PERVERT! They are ALL perverts. They should be LOCKED UP and never let out!!!!!
We need another databawse so we can hold all of the photos of these PERVRETS and make sure that they SIGN the SEX OFFENDERS REGISTER.
Nurse says I have to go for a lie down now.
Bill Ray proves what I've said before
You can positively identify someone be other means than their face. Such as that shirt.
I must remember if I'm ever given the opportunity, to hold my hand away from my face to prevent it from getting blurred when giving the Google car "the Vs"
It's not that I'm concerned about street view and privacy because I'm not. It's just that it would be virtually impossible for me to NOT give the car the middle finger or the Vs or pull a mooney if it did pass by.
To be honest I'm shocked by the small amount of people (so far) pictured doing so.
Judging by house and car...
Proof then, if any is needed that working for El Reg isn't an overly lucrative choice of career.
Also, his street seems to have been taken over by blue daleks...
Indeed, or by the reflection of his face in the car.
Some people look for themselves
A few friends have managed to find themselves, and then post relevant links.
It is quite fun really.
I am waiting for my home town to come on, I should find my car on twice.
To be honest it is a piece of fun and not snooping, it is nice though to see what other towns are like.
You sure about Billy Ray's intentions?
He could be flipping the bird for all we know... ;-)
And you can see Bill's unblurred face reflected in the widscreen.
Go past and look back - it is still there in all it's 'glory'...
use street view to sell your car since there are probably photos of it from all angles and end up costing google for you to make money .
I wonder when?
I wonder when someone is going to get ahead of the cameras and do a 'Piss Off Google' moment similar to the legendary 'piss off Biggles' http://www.targeta.co.uk/wheretogo.htm
why not (2)...
.....use it to sell your house without estate agent commission too! Got a lovely set of external shots of my house and street (and surrounding neighbourhood!) on a lovely summer afternoon. thanks Google!
Stig on StreetView
the stig is also on street view
if you look in the window of bbc offices
That's no Opel
It's got the big 'V' from the Vauxhall corporate front end. The Opel one is just at the top of the grille. Anyway is the camewra hidden in the rooftop box?
It seems that Google have proved that at any given time 51 people are peeing in the street.
