Heads of three of the five UK network operators are meeting with Lord Carter, the communications minister, tomorrow morning, along with representatives of the other two, to talk about his demand for 2Mb/sec for all and how to achieve it. Lord Carter's proposal sees mobile operators trading spectrum to increase coverage, and the …
I wonder if Kip Meek, as a non-executive director of Phorm, is going to suggest 'targeted advertising for all' to subsidise '2Meg for all'... and will it be really 2Meg, or only 'up to'?
Mobile broadband sucks ass, the network latency is ridiculous..
As a matter of haste (as in before the next general election) the UK government should introduce:
UK Public Service Provider Licence
UK Commercial Service Provider Licence
as a means to manage public assets.
The UK Government should also reserve rights to withdraw either on an evidential basis or to invoke special measures should a licence holder not uphold or conform to newer or evolving methods.
Taking the hertz back from those failing to deliver is a jolly good idea?
I have absolutely no idea how it compares to putting your mouth on an arsehole and sucking, but I do find latency doesn't make much difference when using the 'web.
Having the service disconnect, over and over and over, just as your filing your tax return is fcking fantastic though.
Thanks for that, 3. I didn't want to get to bed or anything.
This will never take off if we don't get less utterly stupid transfer limits. Our home broadband is the craptastic side of 2mb but there's not a chance in hell we'll get mobile broadband and limit our bandwidth usage to under even 50Gb a month..................
Low latency is important for geeks. I'd rather have 256Kb and low latency, than 2Mb with the latency I currently experience on O2's 3G network.
