The website of Digital Camera Magazine was taken offline on Wednesday morning following an attack by denizens of 4chan. Malefactors subverted the DC forum admin to send an abusive message. Members of the 4chan image board have been responsible for formulating and popularising internet memes such as lolcats and rickrolling. The …
lies it was ebaumsworld and stormfront working together.
Seriously though - there's been no proper lols since the origonal habbo invasion.
a little warning
This happened to the UK's leading mountain bike magazine website over christmas - that had 41,000 users. A SQL-injection attack that brought down the site and exposed the users details followed by taunting by some scriptard from a script-kiddie forum.
Well, it all went wrong when the mountain bikers, who turned out not only to know the difference between XTR and LX also seemed to be au fait with security and IT. They managed to track down the individual responsible. Within 48 hours there was a trail of DNS records, IP addresses, other websites owned by the scriptie, a photo from facebook, photos from the school website (for he was 17), birth certificate details, address, family information, where he had a part time job as a PHP coder, his friends names etc etc.
The chappie handed himself in shortly afterwards when the pressure of seeing mountain bikers gathering outside his house was too much!!! Interestingly, the forum the chap was a member of (evilzone) also came down very shortly afterwards after all the attention.
scriptards pwned by the mob.
fear, suprise and ruthless effeciency...
Terrifying. One can only fear how much worse things will get when the 4chan mob actually reach puberty.
prepare for the worst
Somehow pointless pranks, adolescent humour and uninformed political controversy for its own sake really don't rate in my top 10 of what I'd consider "the worst". Perhaps they intend to provoke a world disaster by changing the review of the latest Canon digital SLR so it only gets one star, shock horror!
Mine's the one with the giant 'Meh!' decal.
Damn you ebaums!!!
Damn your black heart!!!
Ebaums world, right?
I remember when 4chan was actually entertaining to visit, back when they had an actually enforced age limit and active moderators.
Now it's just a group of little kids revelling in a lawless environment.
"The motives behind the assault, whoever carried it out, remain unclear."
They did it for teh lulz.
What did they do to piss off the 4chan weasels?
Not that it takes much, just being feminist/for equal race rights/alive is enough.
Gotta love those cheeky buggers though. The scientology protests (now widely disowned on there) were a fanastic show of force from the net and showed that even when people don't know each other's names they can still get together for something they feel is right. Or wrong.
or just post guro pictures and laugh. Y'know, all depends.
Why is this being reported?
Seriously, who the fuck cares about a bunch of 4chan idiots running around? Why is anyone giving them media coverage anyways? The whole lot of script kiddies and dumbasses need to be castrated so they do not further contaminate the gene pool.
I always thought 4chan was completely pointless but I went on there after reading this and they were discussing stereoscopic porn pictures.
I've learned something good today.
Seriously, whenever 4chan do it, they say ebaumsworld did.
If it says 4chan did it, someone else (or newfags) did.
Anonymous /= Anonymous
Just because the person(s) who broke in and commandeered the site signed their statement as "Anonymous" does not explicitly make them one of the Anonymous anti-Scientologists. It just means they wished to keep their identity secret.
I thought everyone was already aware of the "you know what happens when you assume" proverb.
Back when I were a lad...
We didn't deface web sites or run SQL injections.
Instead, we protested about wars, tried to ban the bomb by picketing the DoD and helped bring down corrupt politicians.
I tell you, the kids these days have it too easy!
Every few years someone reinvents the alt.* newsgroups, the press revel in their lawless tales of derring-do, then it gets old. Wake me up for the next round.
The YouSeeMore.com exploit that happened earlier this week was pretty funny.
Chances of it being 4chan are minimal
couple of reasons it wasn't 4chan
1 - Rules 1 & 2
2 - no reporting of a gore / porn / goreporn crap flooding
3 - it wasn't funny
so some little skiddy went and hacked a site & yelled "4chans did it, I r anon!". Big deal, doesn't make it anything other than a twit trying to act cool. Which sounds like the average user of ebaums.
Probably not 4chan tards
If it had been 4chan, there would be much more porn, and a claim like "ebaumsworld wuz here" (the porn would have been of the gay variety then). No bad joke, no porn, no ebaums accusation? It wasn't 4chan.
Now if you would excuse me, rogue adverts about March28 something are getting on my tits, I need to tell b/ about it...
How is babby formed?
The beauty of Anonymous is that you are Anonymous. Any name you give yourself is meaningless and suspect. What better way to attack your enemies than by being "Anonymous" but claiming to be agents of your enemy? I doubt this was 4chan.
Mine's the one with the polonium in the pocket.
