Charities are more an more doing what the government wants. The Carers charity Carers UK are a prime example, they let Carers down and actively BLOCK Carers from taking part in consultations (whilst drawing hefty salaries)

Better yet why not hook up some kind of gps/remote control deal.
Simply locate your missing seniors online, then steer them home via an unobtrusive, brain-implanted remote control. Maybe include some sort of minor electric shock system if they take a wrong turn. Better yet, a system like this could be turned into a console game for the kids - so you can pass off the responsibility of getting them home, and not be distracted from important things like playing WoW.

..... as Dr Richard Nicholson said, this could also introduce caring by numbers, and that sounds distinctly creepy to me. My Great Grandmother battled dementia for many years before succumbing at the grand old age of 94, but she received excellent personal care and that was a massive boost to her fight. Tags could remove much of the contact such sufferers receive and in spite of the positive side of the idea it needs a proper look to avoid possible pitfalls.

How long until Google Maps will show the positions of wandering dementia patients live? All these little pointy arrows, doddering around as you check the traffic...
