This merger on top of the her various weird and wonderful connections like her free holiday on the Jack McDonnell (2nd First Minister) villa in Mallorca, makes her in my opinion not suitable to continue her role on Newsnight.

@Ian, whilst I'm leaning a little to Andy's viewpoint on the Susan front, Martha Kearney has something about her too but way, way out in the lead has to be Stephanie Flanders. The woman is quite possibly the ultimate thinking man's crumpet:

You have to remember that Scotland is a small country with a small political/chattering class. As a result, corruption is endemic here. That rustling could be back scratching, but is probably paper bags full of fivers changing hands.
